Discussion:
[fedora-virt] improving win7 guest sound and video performance

Hi,

I wonder if someone can help.

Video performance (youtube) in my win7 guest is decent but the sound
somehow is slow, and I mean slow like playing a record at low rpm (no
chopped sound or jitter).

I'm running an up to date fedora 20 host. My guest definition can be found
here:

http://pastebin.com/YybiPnAp

Any ideas about what settings can be tweaked to get the best possible video
and sound performance out of a win7 guest?

Thanks in advance,

Daniel

I don't get the playing too slow problem, I get the totally out of sync
problem. The sound is OK, but it follow 1 or 2 seconds behind the video.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to fix either problem :-).

Slowness is this bug I assume:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1129961

I'll be doing a build for that soon.

Thanks Guys,

The problem is as reported in bug.

Please let me know if you need any help with testing once the build is
ready , I'm happy to help. Which package will contain the fix so I can keep
an eye when updating the host?

Cheers,

Daniel

Thanks very much Cole!

Mid week on the clock and issue is fixed (qemu-1.6.2-8).

I just wish video lip-sync also gets fixed eventually. Do you know if
there's a bug for that? Unfortunately and for some time now video and audio
on youtube are always out of sync.

I'm not really sure about the syncing issue TBH, you can try filing a bug and
I can point more qualified people at it, I suspect it's a known issue though
